How to get more equipment finance applications without buying leads

Buying leads is the fastest way to more applications and often the slowest way to more funded deals. These are the things that tend to bring an equipment lender more of the files it actually wants, and most of them cost nothing per file.

Say exactly what you fund, in public

Dealers, accountants and borrowers all guess at what a lender will do, and most of them guess cautiously. A lender that states its box plainly (the equipment it likes, the states it serves, how new a business it will take, how old a truck, whether it does private-party sales) gets sent the files that fit and fewer that do not. It costs a page on your website and a one-page sheet for your dealers.

Answer the first call fast

On equipment deals the first lender to give a clear answer often wins, because the seller wants the sale closed and the buyer wants the equipment. A same-day answer, even a conditional one, is a reason for a dealer or a referral partner to send you the next file first. Slow answers teach your sources to send their best files somewhere else.

Be findable for the searches borrowers actually make

Borrowers search for their problem, not for a lender: financing a used truck, equipment financing after the bank said no, a machine for a business under two years old, a private-party purchase. A page on your own site that answers one of those plainly, and says whether you do that kind of deal, is found by the borrowers who need it. It takes months to show up in search, and it costs nothing per click once it does.

Win the files the bank down the street passes on

Banks decline good equipment deals every week for reasons that have nothing to do with the borrower: an asset the bank will not lend on, a business a year too young, a ticket above its limit. If you are the lender those files fit, tell the bankers who turn them away. Many would rather send a declined customer somewhere useful than send them away with nothing.

Stay close to the people who already know you

Past borrowers, the accountants and insurance agents who serve them, and the local bankers who do not do equipment are a referral network you already have. Tell them what you fund, thank them when a referral closes, and keep in touch with past borrowers as their equipment ages. A borrower who financed one truck with you is the likeliest person to finance the next one.

If you use outside sources, pay for results

A referral fee paid only on funded deals costs nothing on the files you decline, and it means the source is paid to send you a file that fits, not a file that fills a quota.

EFN works that way. Business owners apply once, and each file is compared against your profile. Every match is human-reviewed against your credit box before it reaches you. Each deal goes to one lender at a time, with no competing calls from other lenders. You have 24 hours to claim it; once you claim it, it is yours until you pass. Unclaimed after 24 hours, it moves to the next best fit.

Joining is free. The referral fee is 1% of the funded amount, and a referral fee applies only on deals that actually fund. Pay nothing for leads you pass on. EFN invoices you after a referred deal funds. Nothing is charged up front, and nothing is taken out of the deal at closing.

What not to do

Common questions

What is the cheapest way for an equipment lender to get more applications?
The sources that cost nothing per file: your own website, your dealer relationships, past borrowers and referrals from people who know you. They are slower to build. A referral fee paid only on funded deals comes next, because it costs nothing on the files you decline.

Are bought leads worth it for a small equipment desk?
Sometimes, for a team built to call and qualify them. For a small desk, a shared lead often means paying to sort through files that were never inside your box.

How does EFN send me applications?
Business owners apply to EFN once. Each file is compared against your profile and reviewed by a person, and a file that fits comes to you alone, with 24 hours to claim it.

Do I pay for applications I decline?
No. Pay nothing for leads you pass on. The referral fee is 1% of the funded amount, only on deals that actually fund.

Can I limit what I receive?
Yes. Your profile is the routing rule: states, equipment, credit box, time in business, deal size, documentation and asset rules. Update it any time.

Set your box. Receive only what fits.
